Things that are Jackson Hole-y...

This past weekend Chase and I drove our motorcycle up to Jackson Hole, Wyoming! Yeah it was about 6-7 hours in a car, but when you stop for gas (and to rest a sore bum) it takes about 1-2 hours longer. We went up with our friends Tony & Jenna. They drove a car, and we took the bike.

This was one of Chase's bucket list items that he's always wanted to do.

Photobucket
Yup the roads were slightly wet, it was super cold Friday morning, we stopped outside of Park City to bundle up even more.

Photobucket
Love my face! I was scared to take a picture of us going 65 mph.

Photobucket
This is the canyon heading up to Jackson. Can't ever get to see the beauty in a car. That is one benefit of riding the motorcycle.

Photobucket
The first thing I said when I came around the first corner was "wow!" I honestly don't remember it being that pretty. The last time I was in Jackson was when I was 14 with my girl scout troop.
Photobucket
Chase wanted a picture of how we got the bike up there.

We were about to head down the river after him taking this picture of the bike. Well clouds came in and it started to rain, more like a down pour. It was freezing too! The boy scouts we were going to go with ended up not wanting to go again and so we packed everything up and headed to the High Adventure Scout Camp outside of Hoback, WY. The only way we were able to stay at that camp was because Tony's brothers are working there at the camp this summer.

Photobucket
Yup soon after it started raining! Chase ended up riding in the rain to get to the camp.

Photobucket
Saturday morning we woke up to these awesome clouds hovering over the mountains.

Photobucket
This was our tent set up! The bike stayed in that position the whole time we were up there, cover and all. It pretty much rained the entire time we were there.

Photobucket
More clouds and just overall pretty.

Photobucket
Ahhh... Just no fun for us to go rafting in.

Saturday morning Chase, Tony and a bunch of other people (minus Jenna) got all packed up and headed out to West Table to Put in the river. I have several pictures on my water proof camera that hasn't been developed yet. We had 2 boats, we went with Tony's dad as a guide on our first run. It was a little cold going down the river on this run. When we got to take out the sun started coming out. On the second run we had Tony's brother Devon guide us down. It was definitely way better with Devon. He made sure we hit every rapid. It was nice and sunny up until we got to the last set of rapids called Cottonwoods. Then it started raining and every time the water splashed us it was cold!

Chase and I living it up!

Photobucket
This was the view of the mountains on Sunday morning. It was SO pretty! Since it basically was rainy all weekend long we prayed Saturday night that it would be sunny for us on the way home.

Photobucket
Chase first wanted to take a picture of the bike at the Tetons. To prove that we actually rode the bike out there. Yup, he's cool like that. :) Gotta prove his way through life, because honestly no-one believes that he rode on an elephant. haha

Photobucket
Us at the Tetons! It was seriously breath taking coming up and around the corner to see the Tetons.

Photobucket
I spy with my little eye a front wheel of the motorcycle. :)

So on our way back from Jackson the weather was awesome, no rain, no clouds. Well we get outside of Evanston, and we see rain clouds. We gear up and head in. Sure enough it started raining. When you are riding into the rain, going 65, it hurts. Well we stop to eat (and to get out of the rain) and tried waiting out the storm. Nope no luck, still drizzling. We head out and hit rain 2 more times after that. I am SO glad we took our rain/snow gear with us. Without it we would have been soaked and cold. Regardless we had an awesome time and hope to go back again, next time not on the bike! :)

Things to do the 4th of July

This year I signed up and agreed to do a 10k, and convinced my friend Alli to run it as well. The race started at 7am! yup, bright and early. Since we live out in EM and the race was in Provo we ended up getting there about 5 minutes before the race started. I actually started 5 minutes after the gun had started. Thankfully I had a chip on my shoe that kept track of when I crossed the starting line and finish line. Here's some pictures to show off! :)
Photobucket
Michael came in first - he only ran the 5k. He ran it in 24:57. Way better than me! :)

Photobucket
Logan came in next with his 10k finishing with a 47:24!

Photobucket
Alli finishing strong with Logan in sight the whole way! :) She knew where her priorities are! :)

Photobucket
She finished 49:43!

Photobucket
Then I came in about 17 minutes later finishing 1:07:53!

Photobucket
Finishing hug=awesome! :) She's an awesome friend!

Photobucket
Ear Buds and all! That's what kept me going!

Photobucket
After cooling down....

Photobucket
Finished Strong!

Better picture thanks to Brad!

Photobucket
Michael took 3rd in his age division! Yup! Pretty sweet!

Photobucket
Its a pretty cool prize!

After the race we went to 7 peaks just like everyone else, who had the same idea. :) We got to hang out with some other awesome people! Alex & William! Sadly we don't have any pictures. Lame right!?

That night Chase, Brad, Alli and I went to the Real Salt Lake game.

Things that burn EM edition

So a few weeks ago (yup I'm that lame for not getting this out sooner) Eagle Mountain and Saratoga Springs had a fire. It was called the "Dump Fire." It started when some people went out shooting explosive targets. They were in fact the ones to call it in to the fire department. Parts of Eagle Mountain and Saratoga Springs were evacuated. The mayor said for the Ranches (where we're at) to be ready to evacuate if necessary.
I raced home at like 12 thinking that we were going to need to leave for the night. We had everything ready in case we needed to. We ended up not needing to.

Later that night Chase wanted some cool pictures, so we busted out the bike and drove out towards City Center. Here's some pretty cool shots of the fire.

Photobucket
We stopped at a pull off on the way towards city center

Photobucket
This showed more that it was headed down towards city center

Photobucket
Closer shot

Photobucket
See how close it is towards peoples homes?

Photobucket
The view looking out towards Cedar Fort

Photobucket
I thought this was a cool shot, not sure how Chase managed to take this one

Photobucket
Then we started driving towards city center and I got even closer shots

Photobucket
Thankfully the winds were in City Center's favor. The winds were blowing east pushing the fire back up the mountain.
Photobucket
This is taken right outside our door towards the mountain. I really love the colors. :)
