Scatter Brained...

I know it has been forever since I last posted. Or it feels like it to me. But nothing really has been going on these past few weeks besides school. For some reason I'm not as focused as I used to be on school. I keep on trying to find things for me to do since I'm only taking 9 credits and not working, but it's so hard. So I am a bit scatter brained. Maybe I'll be back in a few weeks with more posts.

Does anyone read our blog anymore? If so please leave a comment. Maybe it'll give me the motivation I need to create another post!

The One with John D.

A few weekends ago, my dad gets a call from my 18 year old cousin asking if he could stay the night and if he could get picked up in Salt Lake because he was... Hitch Hiking across the United States. Yup he was thumbing his way from Maryland to Portland, Oregon. No joke. When I told family and friends they all thought he was crazy. For some reason I didn't. I actually thought it was something he would do. It apparently runs in the family too, because John's dad was giving HIM advice on how to hitch hike. So Chase, Hurley and I drove down to my dad's and visited for a few hours. He has definitely grown up since we saw him 2 years ago.
Here's a photo to prove he was in Utah. Not like we need to prove anything.
He only stayed in Portland a few days. He called my dad asking if he could stay another night about a week later. My dad called me and said he's coming in late and he really sounded like it was going to be too much of a hassle since it was going to be about 11:30 or 12 that he was coming in and my dad lives in Springville and he was coming in through Salt Lake. So I offered, plus we have an extra bed in our house. We didn't get in until about 12:30. While we were driving home he shared a lot of funny stories, luckily nothing bad happened to him. Anyways he loved staying at our house cause of the bed. :) We dropped him off with my dad the next day to hitch a ride down to I-70. I hope he made it home safe!

Cutting the Toe Nails

So today I decided I was going to get some nail clippers for Hurley. So I searched online and found some Martha Stewart brand, and they had a fairly good review. So I drove down to petsmart and bought them. Then I thought I would take care of it and be able to cut all 4 paws. I was wrong. I got 4 done, but then I was trying to get the nail on the side (the dew nail??) and cut it. Hurley didn't yelp or anything. The next thing I noticed was blood dripping. I tried getting his paw to look at it. I turned and saw how short I really did cut the nail. I panicked! and of course knowing me I started crying... A LOT! I felt horrible. I tried drying it up or cleaning it with a baby wipe... bad idea. Then I tried getting it with toilet paper. Still was bleeding...a lot. Hurley was licking it a ton, which kept it bleeding. Chase told me to call one of the Nurse Practitioners in our ward to get a blood clotting agent. I was panicking still... there was no way I was going to call him. So I called my mom because I knew Michael had cut dog's nails too short. Michael said that he would just wrap the paw so that they wouldn't lick it. My mom also said use cornstarch or something to help with clotting. So I did both, cornstarch the nail, and then put gauze on and then wrapped it. Poor puppy! I feel so bad, and I don't think I could ever get over it. I told Chase I felt like it was me cutting off someone's finger. He said no, just cutting it too short. Oh sorry I forgot to mention that Chase is gone to Maryland to meet with a huge bank. So that's why I was all alone in this process. Here's some pictures. I hope you don't cry like I did.
Nail clippers and the nail. :(

You can see the red in the nail. I cut like almost his whole nail off. I think I could cry all night! That's how bad I feel! I hope Hurley knows how bad I feel.
He looks like he broke a bone or something.

A closer look

Look at that sad face!
He's in his favorite spot so it should be all good right? :( I hope. I will check it tomorrow.
