Birthday's + Sunday Dinner = Party!

This was a few weeks ago, but we have a tradition of every 3rd Sunday of the month Chase and I get together with my side of the family. Every 1st Sunday we get together with Chase's family. So that means I only have to cook dinner twice a month (sometimes) on Sunday. Anyways It was my mom's birthday this last week and my brother's birthday on Saturday. I'll just say this kindly to my mom... You now have 2 teenagers to deal with. Not just 1. :) David definitely does not have the drama of a 17 year old female. I am being kind Carolin. I think we all were horrible as teenagers. You know got into trouble with the parents, wanted to be out on our own. Stuff like that. Anyways my mom turned the big *6. :) And David turned 13! Wow I must be old! hehe Anyways we had a lot of fun. I cooked Chili from off of Betty Crockers website. It was full of veggies! It was delicious! We had salad and also mashed potatoes, and my favorite Dr. Pepper. For dessert I made mom's favorite German Chocolate Cake. Yum!

We sang to Mom and David, but sadly I didn't have a bazillion candles for the cake. So they pretended to blow out the candles. *Missing Picture*
David anticipating his present
He's trying to be very sneaky...
Now he's just taking forever!
See that excitement on his face. He is just stoked to get new clothes! haha
And the shirt

Afterwards they all opened their presents.
The present
Taking forever. Now I see who David get's it from

Mom got a cricket from Michael, Chase and I.
Carolin's got mad wrapping skills like Dad! hehe

Carolin gave her a big school purse because this is the year she get's her degree and can teach! YAY!
Cute huh? I don't even think he knew I snapped it! haha
One of us.
Toesy's I was getting bored I think...

Anyways! David got something from Mom and Michael, and I'm sure something from Dad, but they didn't give me pictures. So all I have is his present from Chase and I which were some new jeans. He has been growing out of his like crazy and we got him a spanking new shirt! He looks really good in it! Chase even picked it out! :)

Overall we had a swell night, and are very happy that everyone came for dinner, and brought their family dinner spirits! Happy Birthday Mom and David!

Carolin's Craft

For one of Carolin's classes at Springville High School. She had to do needlework. I guess that's how you say it. Anyways she should have just waited until July to give it to us, but she gave it to us the other weekend when we had the family over for Sunday dinner. Chase finally put it in a frame yesterday while I was sleeping, and I think it looks great!!

Project #1

Starting now I am going to start doing my crafts in project numbers. So here's the first project that I have done in a while. I thought this bad boy was going to take me only a few hours. Well the paint wouldn't stay and I ended up having to take off the paint and redo it, so it ended up taking it a lot longer than I had expected.
The tray that has never been used

More Painted
Modge Podged
After I redid it. I ended up modge podging paper to it. Then I painted it, and then modge podged it again. So it took a lot longer than I had planned.
I was planning on having this done over spring break, and ended up doing it a week or so later. And the paint stayed this time. It will eventually go in the kitchen. But for now with the entertainment center. Thanks Chase for setting that up!

Just a quick though from Tedi:

"won't is a weird word.
because if you tried to break it apart... wo not
but it should be will not i guess. but if you tried to put will not together... willn't doesn't work."

This made my smile! Thanks Monkey Face!

Yup it's true. I got a haircut! Not just any old haircut. But I donated my hair to locks of love. This is the second time in my life that I have donated my hair. The first time I was 16 and I did it after my sophomore year of high school. I told everyone that I was going to do it. Here are pictures to prove it too!
 Before the hair cut

After - looks like a mug shot almost

I think I'm still in denial about the whole thing, my head felt lighter I know that
Anyways so I cut off about 10 inches or a little more. It is a huge change. My head feels lighter. So anyways here's the story on how I decided to donate. So i walk into Great Clips and of course they are having their $7.99 hair cut sale (that's mainly why I went) a girl named Cory comes up and asks if I just want a haircut, I said yeah. So she gets me in the chair and then asks how short I want to go. I show her (a little below my shoulder), she looks at the length and says hold on a minute. She then comes back with a ruler, and measures my hair. She asks if I have ever donated my hair before, and I said yeah. So she said okay, well they want us to wash your hair before we can donate it. So lets go wash. Then... she cut it off above the rubber band with a razor. It was definitely a weird feeling. Anyways... I have shorter hair than I expected. eh.. it's not like it won't grow back. I love it! And I think Chase loves it too. I would hope so, cause he has to live with it for several more months for it to be the same length again. :)

This is from my phone after surprising Chase at work with how short it was.
I only showed him this picture by text. So that's why the picture doesn't look so good.

What do ya think?

Ever Heard Of

A company called 1bagatatime.com was at the Home and Garden Expo at the Events Center (previously known as McKay Events Center) in Orem, UT. Well they were giving away cloth bags, and attached were somethings to consider when going to the grocery store.

The Problem

14 Plastic Bags - contain enough petroleum to drive a car a mile.
380 billion plastic bags - or wraps are thrown away in America each year.
Making a paper bag emits 70% - more global warming gases - than making a plastic bag.
0 Paper bags - biodegrade in landfills due to a lack of oxygen.
Cities spend up to - 17 cents per bag - in disposal costs, wasting millions of tax dollars.

Table and Chairs

So here's the story about how we traded our couch and chair for a table and chairs.

Chase put our couch and chair set up on KSL.com and also on craigslist.com. He got a call from this lady who said she had sold her couch because they were downsizing so she could go back to school. Anyways Chase told her that we had sold the table that we were using and didn't have a kitchen table any more. She said oh well I just so happen to be trying to sell my table and chairs. So she gave Chase the ad number and we looked at it and thought it was perfect for us. Well yesterday we did a straight trade. They have our old couch and chair and we have their old kitchen table set. We love it, and definitely needed it because we have family coming over for dinner tonight. I did clean them up because they were a bit dirty. But we definitely are very happy with this, and can't believe things worked out so well. I hope that can happen so we can get our new bed. ahhh we definitely need that!

Here's the pictures:

Couch - duh
Chair - no duh
Table, bench and 2 of the 4 chairs

I really like the table and it's big for when we have the family coming over. Plus it will be good when we have parties too! yay!

New Couch

I told ya I would have pictures for you. We got an awesome deal at RC Willey Outlet in Provo on this sectional. It is a lot higher up than our previous couch, which we love a lot! I definitely need to do something creative with those pillows. Maybe that will be next in my long list of things that I want to do!

Yes Hurley is modeling the couch for you. Plus the poor doggy is cold!

He looks so warm right?
This is where our old couch ended up until we could get rid of it. Let me say it was definitely a pain trying to go from the computer in the office out to the living room to check on Hurley. We tried getting it into one of the bedrooms, but this is where it ended up.

Coming tomorrow: Story of our table and chairs and the old couch

March or 60 degree weather or maybe both= GREAT ride

It wouldn't exactly be Chase's first ride of the year. But it was ours together. It wasn't very long because it still is cold when you get up to 65mph. We went to Eagle Mountain City Center, and then took another route to State road 73 which heads out to Tooele, and also goes to Lehi Main Street. We've never taken that road before though. Although it was around 60 degrees yesterday it still was cold. I bundled up wearing a long sleeve shirt, a fleece coat, a scarf, gloves and Chase's leather jacket. I need to get one this year! All Chase had on was his thermal bottoms, gloves and then a long sleeve shirt and his other leather jacket. He obviously doesn't get cold very often. Here are some pictures before our trip. It was too cold to take pictures while riding. Plus there wasn't anything green.

Don't ya love the face? I sure do!

Yes I had to be excited! I was excited.

Now I will be getting my motorcycle license this summer so that way we can just ride the bike and I can drive it. Sweet idea huh?

Cary Grant

My friend Katie and I fell in love with Cary Grant after watching the movie Charade, and The Philadelphia Story, with Jimmy Stewart and Katharine Hepburn (not related to Audrey Hepburn as I know of). So when we were in high school Katie and I created this goal that before we died we were going to watch all of Cary Grant's movies together. Well it's been 5 or 6 years since high school and we've only gotten less than 10 done. Well I still watch them, and Chase knows how much I love him. So he puts movies on our netflix queue, that Cary has been in. I should be better at keeping track of them so that's what this blog is for! I will try and keep it up to date so that way I know what I have seen and what I have not. :) fair? I guess it's for my own purpose. And if Katie wants in on it too. :)

Is something missing?

One of these things is not like the other, can you tell me which thing is not like the other... or something like that. Let me explain.

So the other day I was walking into the library to check out a book for one of my classes because you can rent a book for 2 hours and then bring it back. So if you forgot your book you could check it out from the library and then return it after reading. It's so great! I saved a bunch of money (or I at least hope) this semester because of that. I checked with the circulation desk before school started to make sure they had the books I needed. It's a great way to save money! Because let me just say $600 for books (yes I paid that last year for Anatomy and Microbiology) can be quite expensive for a POOR college student. Yup that's me poor. I won't get into that. What I really wanted to talk about was this sign I saw up on one of the tv screens that showed that the library is now hosting Warcraft. You know the game. But what makes this VERY ironic is that I get messages sent to me while on the computer that say "If you are not doing any school work then please get off of the computer so that others may get on". Does that not seem ironic? You are telling me that you can play games on the library computers, but you have to get off if you are blog surfing or facebooking. It really doesn't make any sense, and why would anyone waste their precious time playing games. At least I'm being very constructive by finding things that I want to make, while not being on the computer.

Can you tell me what is missing? Cause I really can't figure it out!

OH! Chase showed me something last night. So he somehow lets everyone know on facebook when we post something on our blog. But what I don't get is that they will respond to his post on facebook, rather than comment on our blog. Please don't! I like the comments so that I can read them and not just Chase. Make sense? Cause not ALL of my friends on facebook are friends with his friends. And because I don't check out facebook that often. :)

Inner Life of a Cell

My first year here at Utah Valley University I took a biology class, and my teacher gave us this this site to look at for viewing the Inner life of a cell. I thought it was the most amazing thing I had seen. Until I saw in a cadaver and got to see the aorta and inferior vena cava, which are massive! Anyways I really liked this video. You can go here to see it. Tell me what you think. I wish they could show replication of DNA, transcription and translation like how they show it here in 3D. If you don't know the parts of the cell by just watching the movie and want to know more. Let me know. I will be glad to share them with you.

Love this movie. ahhh

Valentine's Day

Yeah, I know it's March now. But I have been seriously lacking in the blogging department. So Chase and I did not celebrate Valentine's Day at all this year. We didn't get each other gifts because we don't have money. Our stake was putting on a Valentine's Sock Hop. We got all dressed up for it, showed up. Not to sound mean but it was like one of those stake dances that no one danced, and everyone just sat around. I think it would've been better if we had a couple to go with.
The next night. Chase and I crashed (maybe not crashed) our old wards Valentine's Dance. It was a lot more fun, and we actually danced. They did repeat a few songs, because there wasn't much to dance to. But we had a lot of fun, and even danced. Yup can you believe it he danced with me! Well it only happens once a year.

Sunday we went down to Chase's parents for dinner on Valentine's Day. Had a good dinner with the family. Monday I made this DELICIOUS Chocolate Elegance. Here's a picture of it.

It may not look the best but oh how delicious was it!

Here's the recipe from the website I got it from.

Chocolate Elegance

What You Need!

1-1/2 pkg. (8 oz. each) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened
1/2 cup  sugar
2-1/2 cups thawed COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, divided
6 squares  BAKER'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate, divided
1 pkg. (3.9 oz.) JELL-O Chocolate Instant Pudding
1/2 cup  milk
1/4 cup PLANTERS Sliced Almonds, toasted

Make It!

BEAT cream cheese and sugar with mixer until blended. Stir in 1-1/2 cups COOL WHIP with whisk; spread 2 cups onto bottom of 8x4-inch loaf pan lined with plastic wrap.
MELT 3 chocolate squares. Add to remaining cream cheese mixture along with dry pudding mix and milk; beat until blended. Spread over cream cheese layer in pan. Refrigerate 4 hours.
MICROWAVE remaining chocolate and COOL WHIP in microwaveable bowl on HIGH 1 min.; stir until blended. Cool slightly.
INVERT dessert onto platter. Remove pan and plastic wrap. Top dessert with chocolate glaze and nuts. Refrigerate until glaze is firm.

Here's the website I got it from just if you wanted to know how to make it and see a better picture of it. But you will definitely have to try this one out! I couldn't stop eating either! Yum! I want another one! Chase???

Wow I'm on a roll... Not really. I mean I go through these weeks where I do good at posting and then I don't write for almost a month. Oh well. Anyways here is a necklace I made for Carolin for her birthday. I got the tutorial off of this lovely website. :) I have this thing of checking out tons of blogs, finding all these cute ideas and then never making them. Well that's not going to happen this time! I'm making a list, checking it twice... (no not for Christmas), with all the ideas that I love, and the supplies needed. I have a habit of waiting until the last minute to get the supplies written down. So I'm starting early this time. I'm honestly trying to be more organized. It's not quite working out, but I am getting lots of ideas from people.

I know the necklace isn't the same as how Lindsay did it, but I like how mine turned out. My sister said she got many compliments at school on her necklace. Makes me happy. :)
